Research and Development

ASNAPP draws on the expertise of and utilizes its networks of African Universities (Stellenbosch University, University of Zambia, KNUST, University of Ghana and University of Dakar), U.S. University (Rutgers University) and other research institutions like the Centre for Scientific Research into Plant Medicine (CSRPM) to provide assistance in plant breeding, sustainable production and harvesting, post harvest handling and chemical profiling of targeted indigenous plants.

Research activities span ethno-botanical surveys, germplasm collection and improvements, gene bank establishment, agronomic trials, appropriate harvesting and product handling systems, processing and value addition.  Findings and technologies are disseminated through on-site technology transfers and hands-on training sessions.  Taught courses have also been developed and are being offered in leading partner universities and students put on research work to expand the knowledge base on natural plant products.
